Current Sate of Fuel Prices

This is not the type of post Hillside likes to write. We are informative, light, and fun whenever possible. Most content is nonsense, and we don’t like contributing to the mayhem. Unfortunately, this post is necessary. We owe it to our loyal customers to keep you informed about the current state of fuel prices. Increasing fuel prices have impacted us in the past few months. If nowhere else, at the gas stations. Fuel pricing is currently more volatile than we at Hillside have ever seen. Costs have more than doubled since the start of 2022.

Hillside does everything we can to keep our prices in line and competitive with other “full-service” heating oil companies in our area. The prices Hillside pays are set by the local refineries. If we want the fuel, we have to pay their prices. There is no negotiating with “Big Oil” – we are a middleman. Our retail sales prices reflect these changes when our costs fall or rise. As we write this, our current retail price for heating oil is $5 per gallon. It kills us to sell such a necessary product at an outrageous rate.

Hillside may be a fuel company, but we feel the same pain as everyone else. We have to pay the same high rates, and our entire fleet of vehicles runs on the same fuels that heat our homes. The costs of operating our delivery trucks immediately double when the fuel price doubles.

If you are on our monthly budget payment plan, you will see a large increase in your monthly amount starting in April 2022. Only two factors determine our customer’s budget: fuel price and weather. This winter was colder than average, and prices are higher than anything in recent history, with no sign of slowing down.

We understand the effect this will have on your families and know that a simple email will not eliminate the impact. But we hope the early warning for upcoming increases helps take the surprise and shock out of upcoming bills for fuel.
