Your Heater Should Work Smarter, Not Harder

Use Energy Wisely This Winter and Stay Safe with Charlie the Dog’s Tips

A study by the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA)* highlights that more than half of home energy consumption in our area is dedicated to heating. You can keep your home comfortable while using energy efficiently with a few simple adjustments. Start by turning your thermostat down a few degrees when you’re away or at bedtime – a small change that can lead to big savings. Regular maintenance of your heating system is equally important. Schedule service once or twice a year to ensure your equipment is free of dirt and buildup, keeping it running efficiently. Don’t forget to replace your air filters as recommended for your system – a clean filter allows air to flow freely, reducing strain on your unit and preventing costly breakdowns.

A Safety Reminder from Charlie the Dog
Charlie wants to remind you that turning the clocks ahead is a great time to replace the batteries in your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors. Even hard-wired alarms need fresh backup batteries in case of a power failure, which can occur during emergencies like house fires. Refreshing batteries every six months is a low-cost, life-saving safety measure.
